Frequently Asked Questions

What is Naturopathic Medicine?

Naturopathic Medicine is a distinct branch of health care that emphasizes prevention and treatment through the use of natural therapeutics. It blends old and new, ancient lore backed with scientific data. The doctor's who practice Naturopathic Medicine complete 4 year post graduate training program where they are trained as primary care physicians. The first 2 years of training include the basic sciences (such as anatomy, physiology, and biochemistry) and medical information (including pathology, diagnosis, and physical exams). The following 2 years focus on naturopathic modalities (such as botanicals, physical medicine, homeopathy, and nutrition). Each naturopath takes the aspects of the medicine that they resonate best with to create their own practice.

What is Homeopathic Medicine?

The term Homeopathy is taken from the word homoios (similar) and pathos (suffering). This accurately describes the underlying premise of homeopathy...cure the disease by the use of similars. Originated in Germany by Samual Hahnemann in the late 1700's, this form of medicine is gentle yet immensly powerful when used correctly. It entails using minute doses of plants, animals, and minerals to stimulate the vital force and allow one's body to heal itself.

What is the difference between a Naturopath and a Homeopath?

While homeopathy is a system onto itself, it is also one of the modalities that a naturopath is trained in and may use as part of their total system of care.

What type of physical medicine does Dr. Nicole practice?

Dr. Daddona was a massage therapist in California. This began her love of body work. Aside from massage she also perfroms non- thrust, low-velocity manipulation of joints. This type of manipulation is based on old osteopathic techniques and works great for those who either can not (due to arthrits or other issues) or do not want to use high-velocity thrust adjustments, such as performed by a chiropractor. She also uses strain/counterstain (another osteopathic technique) and some trigger point therapy.

What is an Osteopath?

An osteopath is a medically trained physician with an emphasis on the musculo-skeletal system.
